About Us
Nature Conservation Society of Nashik (NCSN), is a group of Nashik nature lovers, wildlife observers, trekkers, biologists and conservationists with a shared vision and deep commitment for the conservation of nature and environment. The NCSN team hopes to create not only awareness but affection for nature by involving public in general and children from urban and rural areas. The group started its activity since 1994, formally launched the Society in 1996 and officially got registered in year 2000. The Society has steadily extended its activity throughout the district. The Society is actively involved in conservation of important wildlife areas scattered all over Nashik district, particularly in the rural areas.
MISSION
-
To undertake consistent studies of flora and fauna of Nashik district, to have systematic data collection, recording and to make it scientific in liaison with BNHS, WWF, WII, and Forest Department.

To disseminate information of nature, environmental issues to grass root level, local villagers and field staff of Forest Department so as to get their sincere participation.

To conserve the hotspots of biodiversity and important habitats in Nashik district and encourage people to participate in these activities to make it “Peoples Protected Areas” (Community Reserves).

To undertake conservation education programs for school teachers, students and field staff of Government department in addition to politicians and policy makers.

To undertake afforestation programs so as to restore the ancestral green cover of Nashik (Dandakaranya).

To create a strong, permanent and effective green platform for the environment conservation and to formulate a green brigade to fight any invasion disturbing environment.
Objectives

To identify new the existing areas of Forest Grassland and Wetland and to study the three ecosystems in depth.

To identify new habitats and to inform various concern authority such as Forest Department etc.

Documenting and studying the Flora and fauna of Nashik district in the various habitat.

To liaison with forest department and other government bodies so as to strengthen the base of conservation.

To work closely with National and International wild life based organizations such as Wild Life Institute of India Dehradun, Bombay Natural History Society, Bharati Vidyapeeth, Pune, SACON, RSPB, Bird Life International, UK etc.

To prevent wild life crime such as hunting Trapping and poaching which is actually quite rampant in the district due to poverty and other conditions.

To publish scientific papers in various important journals such as JBNHS etc.

To conduct research programme such as Radio Collaring, Bird Ringing and other research activities pertaining to wild life.

To organize nature camps, students, adults and people all walks of life and to impart them knowledge about Nature Conservation.

To organize slideshows in various schools, colleges, villages and other places wherever concern.
